Lee Mothes has been drawing and painting ocean and beach scenes most of his life. He grew up on the California coast, studied fine art in California and Oregon, and has been a professional artist since 1990. He works and shows his art at his Oceans and Dreams Studio in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, plus in other galleries in Wisconsin and in Baja California. Mothes enjoys ocean beaches and surf; and he intensely observes the energy, the light and the patterns that make ocean waves so captivating. The work in this show is the result of many hours of watching, sketching and recreating the movement of the waves he observes and photographs.
